Tonight South Units were dispatched to assist station 8 with an IPhone crash notification in Armstrong Township. We run these types of emergency response frequently which 99% turn out to be a false notification. Station 5, Station 8, MICU 1-91, and Engine 1 were on the initial dispatch.

While Responding, Lycoming County DPS advised that they had an open line with what they believed to be the sound of 4 ways clicking in the background. Lyco DPS then updated the location to the area of the power lines and off of the roadway but still no contact.

Chief 5 arrived in the area. Unable to see anything due to extreme fog and freezing rain falling. Chief 5 continued up the mountain to further investigate. As Engine 1 proceeded through the area, the officer of Engine 1 spotted a fire 600 feet off the roadway and down the embankment. Engine 1 stopped and began a stretching a 400 foot 1 3/4 line. Squad 5 arrived and pulled an additional 200 foot attack line to take down and extend the initial line.

Officer of Engine 1 made the incident scene and had to remove the occupant from harm away from the burning vehicle.

Chief 1-5 assumed Operations and crew from Squad 5 assisted with fire extinguishment on a fully involved vehicle.

Additional units were requested to assist. Bringing in Tanker 8, UTV 9-7, Ambulance 12, and Tower 1.

Due to icy conditions, steep embankment, and limited visibility. The UTV would be utilized to access and extricate the patient via service roads by the reservoir and power lines. Patient was removed with minor to moderate injuries.

All personnel would return to quarters with no injuries.
