While Chief 5 and Special Unit 5 were on a previous pole fire, a resident returned home to find an apartment filled with smoke and detectors alerting. Resident approached the chief and advised him that he received a call from a family member for lunch and forgot he was cooking when he left the apartment. Chief 5 investigated and found an apartment charged with smoke. Chief 5 requested Ladder 5-44 to return to the area for ventilation.
