This morning South volunteers were out in the River in Montoursville Fire Department response district for a boat recovery. Yesterday they were dispatched for a boat that had run aground with occupants screaming for help. Station 20 along with Water Rescue assets from Williamsport Firefighters Local 736, Williamsport Bureau of Fire responded and rescued the occupants. Chief 1-20 (Schram) had reached out to inquire if South would be willing to retrieve the vessel stuck in the river. Crews loaded up this morning and launched from the Mill Street boat launch and were able to work the vessel free, walk it up river to a deeper area and then tow the boat back to the launch safely and return to the owner.
Team work makes dreams work! Proud to be able to work with some awesome mutual aid departments.
