South units were dispatched to Armstrong Township at the overlook for a single vehicle crash. Chief 5 responded and was given updated information with vehicle possibly on fire. Chief 5 arrived at the overlook confirming the vehicle was down the mountainside and unable to be accessed from the overlook. Chief 5 relocated to Old Montgomery Pike Road. Rescue, Engine, and Special Unit 5 responded. Chief 5 arrived at the gate to the old, abandoned road and took off on foot 200 yards to the scene. Rescue 5 arrived to cut the chain to the gate and units proceeded to the scene. Engine 5 stretched an attack line and crews began to extinguish the fire. Remaining crews began a land search to look for possible patients. Fire was extinguished and only one patient was found and perished in the accident. Crews remained on scene for an extended time assisting with a drone search as well as an extensive ground search to verify no other patients. We would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of the patient. Also, would like to thank all the agencies involved that assisted Duboistown, Nisbet, Independent Fire #1, Loyalsock, Old Lycoming, Montgomery, PSP, SCREMS, coroner, and the Lycoming County Public Safety Center.
