This morning, South volunteers were awakened for a motor vehicle accident with pole and wires down. Upon crews responding, dispatched advised that the driver fled the scene. As Fire Police Lieutenant 5 was responding, the driver ran pass his residence and he was able to report it to dispatch and keep eyes on the driver. Chief 1-5 arrived on scene confirming the dispatch and began checking for hazards. City units along with South Volunteers arrived to mitigate the engine fluids and secure the scene. PPL was called out as there were two poles snapped off, a power outage, and transformers leaking oil.
One house had a small water leak caused by an electrical surge in the area and the water authority was requested for assistance with shutting water off to the home.
