South (Career Staff) assisted Chief 8 and the Game Commission with a unique rescue this morning. Ladder 5 was requested to assist the Game Commission with a safe rescue of two cubs in the residents back yard pine tree. Ladder 5 and Chief 5 arrived to meet with officers who secured the mother bear and need assistance with accessing the two cubs approximately 60 feet up in a pine tree. Ladder 5 positioned and was able to reach a safe area so the Game Officer could successfully and safely rescue the two cubs and reunite them with their mother. All 3 bears were then relocated back into the mountains. No injuries were reported. Crews were operating slightly over 1 hour.
